The thought of a boudoir session can be scary. When talking to women about their session, I get asked all kinds of questions. So I wanted to compile a list of my 12 most frequently asked questions to give you some insight on preparing for a boudoir session with me!
Do you share my images?
Our number one priority is making sure our clients are comfortable during their boudoir session. It can be a life changing experience, but also nerve wracking! Sometimes, you are learning how to love your body and you aren’t quite ready to share the images with the world, or sometimes these photos are specifically for your spouse and aren’t for anyone else’s eyes. These are all great reasons for not sharing your photos, and it all depends on your personal preferences. If there are photos that I would like to share, I will ask your permission first, and ONLY share what you are comfortable with!
Do I have to wear lingerie?
You definitely don’t have to specifically wear lingerie, it depends on your personality! There are SO many outfit ideas other than lacy little things. During the pre-planning phase before your session, I’ll be emailing you many outfit ideas.
Do you have payment plans?
We do offer a few payment options! There will be an initial booking fee to secure your session date itself, and then additionally, the amount for your chosen package will be due at your reveal and ordering session. Most of my clients will book a few months out and will make pre-payments during this time. Just let me know if this is something you are interested in setting up! Paypal Credit is also a great option since they offer 6 months of free financing.
Is hair and makeup included?
Hair and makeup IS included as part of your session fee for your boudoir shoot! I think it’s really important for you to feel pampered, and having your hair and makeup done is a great way to do that. Whether you choose and natural look, or full-on glam with false lashes, we’ve got you covered!
Do you Photoshop my images?
Your images will receive basic edits for lighting, exposure and color balance, as well as minor retouching of the skin for temporary blemishes such as acne and bruises. I will not be changing the shape of your body or heavily modifying your appearance because one of the most wonderful outcomes of your boudoir session will be gaining a new appreciation for your body…just the way it is! It is normal to have parts of yourself that you are still learning to love, and that’s ok – skillful posing and lighting tactics will make you look your absolute best, I promise.
Where should I buy outfits?
There are so many awesome places to buy outfits from, and I will be sending you tons of info on where to purchase different types of clothing and lingerie for your body type as part of your pre-session planning. If you are looking for something specific that you can’t find, I’m always here for guidance and can help with ideas if you reach out before your session.
Although you will be bringing your lingerie/outfits, there are specialty add-on items in the studio closet that you will be welcome to use, such as elaborate robes in various colors, angel wings, body jewelry and other miscellaneous fun props.
What type of print products do you have?
We offer a variety of luxury albums, with over 40 different cover options! During your reveal session, we will design your album together, and you will get to look through our different sample albums so you can see and feel the amazing quality of these heirloom products. There are various a la carte items and we offer stunning acrylic wall art that you will love to display!
Do you offer digitals?
All of our packages include an album, and with this album you will also receive the coordinating social-media sized photo! There is also an a la carte list that you can choose from, with hi-res digital photos being an option to add-on to your package. The digital images come in a private online gallery, for you to download and share.
I’m freaking out! How can I calm my nerves?
Nerves are all part of the experience! I always say that it would probably be weird if you WEREN’T nervous! The nervousness in the beginning of your shoot make your moment of “WOW” seeing your photos for the first time so much better 😉
How many outfits should I bring?
I ask my clients to bring 6-8 outfits, but we will shoot between 4-5. The reason I ask you to bring extra is because not everything shoots as well as it looks in person, and also, we may prefer to coordinate one outfit over the other depending on the sets that I have up at the time. You are welcome to bring more if you’d like, I love to help you decide when you get here!
Should I get to my shoot early?
You should plan to arrive no more than 10 minutes early, or 10 minutes late to your shoot. I may still be prepping or cleaning up for a session before yours, and we also need to keep to a schedule for the courtesy of our hair and makeup team.
Where is your studio located?
We are located in Santa Fe, NM! Our loft is an open, airy, feminine space full of light and we love it! We will travel to shoot on location at times, simply inquire with us for more details on another location.
